Precision Performance does not believe in selling the customer a box of parts (a kit) that either includes items that will never be used or the wrong parts for the specific application---forcing the customer to expend funds additional to complete the installation. For FRONT output selector applications, a cable length of 7.0' (2.13m) or 6.0' (1.83m) is common. For REAR cable exit applications, a cable length of 5.0' (1.52m) or 4.0' (1.22m) is common. Turbo 350s are notorious, especially in four-wheel drive, for having the rear cam assembly removed.
"When you lower the TH350 transmission to a lower gear, the cam assembly is engaged, and those things tend to come out of the housing." Miller continued, “If you get stuck and try to tip it over or something, the 4L80E is so much more durable. It also has the billet steel hub installed internally.
“We do everything we can without going as far as the type of modifications we make to the Super Street Fighter, with Red Eagle clutches, aftermarket entry shafts, and stuff like that.” Miller continued, "In this particular application, that would be overkill."
easy task
Swapping TCI's 4L80E for the Blazer's TH350 was easy enough. Performance mode gives it a bit firmer shifting and a higher shift point.
Miller explained, “Once you've used the TCU to set the shift settings on the transmission, the second switch lets you cycle back and forth between the two preset shift programs. However, if you are in fourth gear in manual mode when you stop, you must downshift manually as it works like a true full manual.
Adapt to the times
Since the late model 4L80E electronically controlled transmission was connected to an early model NP203 transfer case, modifications and an adapter were needed to properly mate the two and make them work together. Orin Euller of Advance Adapters told us, "The transmission is for a two-wheel-drive truck, and if the output shaft is longer, it will bottom out on the new 32-spline input gear of the adapter."
When replacing a TH350 automatic transmission or a four-speed manual transmission, the input bearing size on the NP205 must also be increased. –Scott Miller
Because it was moved back with the longer 4L80E transmission, the NP205's shifter had to be bent to reach the transfer case linkage and stay in its original trans tunnel hole location.

Recommendations On Good Floor Shifter For 4L80
I could get everything the way I wanted but at the time I was trying to get a clean D1 transbrake and the factory shifter and various cables I tried never pleased me at the ends of the spectrum. I got closer though with a b&m cable, lowered the ball which I installed on the stock shifter with a precision products 4l80 arm and pan mount. I decided to screw it in and buy the shifter. Now I pulled the early 80s and the d1 and put a valve body late with the stock. If I had this 80 initially, I might have left the latest version of my stock style shifter because d1 wasn't so important anymore.4L80 Floor Shifter For Truck
I found a threaded rod and coupler, and made 4 and 6" extenders to go further when I upgraded to bucket seats.
